The rules for this one were simple: take a set of Tangram* pieces and make ponies with them. (*more info: [link])
Now I have to admit that it is pretty much impossible to make a figure with Tangrams that unambiguously resembles a pony. The pieces are just too few and too simplistic. However, cheating a little by adding colours helps a lot to make the figures easily identifiable. I still tried my best to give each character a fitting pose.
Luckily I have some experience with this puzzle, so I came up with this set of figures in a couple of hours. There were some obvious challenges—for example, I used a large triangle for the pegasi's wings, which left me with significantly less material for their body. But mostly it was just fiddling with the pieces till it felt right.
I'm still quite amazed at how expressive some of these turned out. Rainbow Dash truly looks like she's flying at high speed, Applejack seems to be preforming her characteristic bucking moves and Pinkie Pie got this wacky pose that only Pinkie Pie ever does.
