I'm not sure what I have with Luna and weather effects, but last time I depicted her in a storm, and my first piece with her featured an eclipse. This time it's fog, an idea I've had for a while, but only now started with. It was partly made to test out a pair of new Gimp brushes I found, which manage to imitate traditional painting styles pretty nicely.
The painting is surprisingly monochromatic, which, looking through my gallery, is something I hadn't really done to this extent yet. Usually I have at least a few different hues, and often some fairly contrasting ones. Here it's just the blues though—the somewhat cyan tinted for the light to the deep blue in the dark areas.
One thing that can be surprisingly difficult is showing depth in the wispy tendrils of mist. Luckily the shadow cast onto them by Luna helps some in the foreground stand out well enough from the background.
