This is an art piece I made for an upcoming auction, for which it is printed at A1 poster size. It is one of my largest pieces so far and it took well over 20 hours to make.
Because of the large print size, I wanted to draw something with plenty of detail. A group picture of the mane six walking through the Everfree Forest seemed like it would provide an interesting enough setting. Then I got the idea of them crossing a river, with the dramatic view down the chasm. That now pretty much dominates the image, with not much forest being visible any more. Doesn't really matter as long as it looks cool.
A lot of time went into all the background detail. I especially liked working on the rock formations—it's a lot of fun playing with the lighting and making it come to life.
